(1917 – 1991) Isakki Swamigal was a great Yogi and Siddha (mystic expressing Superconscious powers) from Tiruvannamalai (The Avatār’s birthplace). He recognised The Avatār at a young age and played the chosen role of The Avatār’s Guru’s Guru (Mata Vibhutananda Puri’s Guru), and explored the Science of Vedanta with Him. Thus the lineage of the Guru Pītha (Seat of the Guru) in the Science of Vedanta in the Life story of The Avatār is as follows: Isakki Swamigal’s only disciple Mata Vibhutānanda Puri followed by her disciple – The young Avatār. Isakki Swamigal stayed at Pancamukham on the mountain path in Tiruvannamalai. ‘Panca’ means ‘five’ and ‘mukham’ means ‘face/phase’ or ‘identity’. Pancamukham is the place on the mountain path from where the five faces/phases of Arunācala (Hill) can be seen. It is here that Isakki Swamigal’s jīva samādhi (final resting place) is also located.
